Working with Diigo, I learned first the existence of such software, and then how useful the program can be to anybody in the professional world. Out of all the skills I learned using Diigo the biggest skills I took away were the highlight/sticky note tool and how to share my annotations with a selected group. These annotating tools alongside the sharable feature of Diigo make it very valuable when a team is trying to do research, allowing such a team to conduct their research on their own at their own pace while contributing to the collective whole of the team strikes me as very valuable. I can also see the usefulness of this application in a conference setting, so that each member of the conference could view each other's annotations while also contributing their own at the same time. This would cut down on someone oversharing their own notes at the expense of another's having to underscore due to limited time and a single computer to annotate on. The way I would make a powe...

ILP Design_GarageBand/iMovie

For my second ILP I discussed basic English sentence, paragraph, and essay structure. I used the narration voice effect as well as underlying instruments, which I made sure are not subtle enough to take away from the lesson. I used GarageBand to record and manipulate the audio, then imported it to iMovie to add background while listening, finally after seemingly millions of zips and compressions and making things this and that, was able to upload it to youtube. I see data collection in all industries as important and teaching especially. I would use date collection programs such as qualtrics to gauge public opinion of the lessons both from the parent perspective and the student. This way I can ensure a dynamic and increasingly efficient method of teaching. I would also use excel and they data representation it offers to better understand the student's grades as a whole. This would both streamline the grading process as well as allow me to see the big picture as far as grades with respect to their lessons. I found my classmates' blogs to be interesting. Especially in how everyone voiced their own opinions subtly regarding each assignment. My favorite bit I found on a classmates blogs were the presentations they developed for ILP #1. You could clearly see a disparity between those who really could wield technology and those who struggled through it, and I'm not necessarily saying I was of the first. The technology tool I want to...

Assignment #7 - Qualtrics/Excel

Qualtrics Survey Link:  https://fsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8pn0pN8vaQfWrYx My survey asked opinions on numbers from 1-11. I spelled out and capitalized each number in the questions in order to reduce possible bias that could come from only capitalizing the first litter (and therefore number) of the sentence. I also made one of the questions a math problem to gauge the population surveyed's experience with numbers.

The "flipped classroom" is a new approach to education. It involves "flipping" a classroom into an online, interactive format. To do this, a teacher would post instructional material as well as videos and activities online, which would be then accessed by students. This is said to encourage students that may find a classroom boring, or enter a traditional lesson begrudgingly by flipping the format of a lesson into something they go find and access themselves. It is said to increase student participation and engagement and therefore increase the degree of benefit students derive from a lesson. Open educational resources, or OER's are websites that allow teachers and students to develop, provide, and access lessons and activities relevant to academics. The website I found  https://www.oercommons.org Provides a platform for teachers to develop lesson plans, and links to other helpful websites. Such other websites include activities that can be linked to lessons ...

My experience with twitter so far has been smooth. Of course, this is probably to do with the fact I had already used twitter for a bit, but nonetheless it is easy to use for school-related purposes as well. I do have some issues with making the posts not so dry when using it for class, but I guess that comes with the territory. I did find it interesting how the ads I come across have changed since I began using it for this purpose. Overall I like twitter best when used causally, however I do see the useful application of twitter to an educational format. http://peaksmiddleprep.weebly.com In my experience using weekly.com to make my class webpage I feel I have gained a lot. Although at first I was considerably frustrated, working through the frustration to finally understand the website made it become fun quickly. I had a lot of trouble adding links to the site, and was confused as to how I could change the tabs in the top right-hand corner of the website from the default "ho...

http://www.lms.stjohns.k12.fl.us The website includes links to the pto, contact info, and a list of the staff. Individual class sites include information about contact and basically a welcome page. The site also provides parents and students with links to financial information, such as the "cafeteria" link which allows parents to view the week's meals and add funds to their student's account. Without a passcode, visitors can view images of the events and a calendar of those to come. Visitors can also view how they can enroll their child and donate to the school PTO (Parent-teacher-organization). As an aspiring teacher I can see how I would use technology in the classroom, but after viewing this school webpage, I can see how I would also need to use technology outside of the classroom. For starters, a class webpage would be very important. I see it as a way to disburse information which students and parents have access to and can be accountable for, in order to av...
