The website includes links to the pto, contact info, and a list of the staff. Individual class sites include information about contact and basically a welcome page. The site also provides parents and students with links to financial information, such as the "cafeteria" link which allows parents to view the week's meals and add funds to their student's account. Without a passcode, visitors can view images of the events and a calendar of those to come. Visitors can also view how they can enroll their child and donate to the school PTO (Parent-teacher-organization).

As an aspiring teacher I can see how I would use technology in the classroom, but after viewing this school webpage, I can see how I would also need to use technology outside of the classroom. For starters, a class webpage would be very important. I see it as a way to disburse information which students and parents have access to and can be accountable for, in order to avoid things being lost in the cracks, as students have a knack for losing papers that have been handed out. I also see using technology, such as Microsoft excel, as a means of organizing grades and assignments so that nothing on my end falls through the cracks as the long year progresses, making the time which I have grades to give out far more efficient and accurate.

Visiting the technology sandbox opened my eyes to not only the technology available to consumers, but to schools and teachers. One specific piece of technology I saw as very effective was the Smartboard. Although I was aware of the technology, I only saw it as an interactive tool, but after a conversation with our tour Gide, I see how having the set of specific markers can afford a teacher a means of controlling the classroom. Much like a "talking object" which a student must have in order to signify their time to contribute, the markers can be handed out to students as their respective time to participate in an interactive activity comes. This way, no student is left out while others dominate the lesson, and all students are then able to get the full value of the lesson out, in a calm, structured environment.

My experience with twitter so far has been smooth. Of course, this is probably to do with the fact I had already used twitter for a bit, but nonetheless it is easy to use for school-related purposes as well. I do have some issues with making the posts not so dry when using it for class, but I guess that comes with the territory. I did find it interesting how the ads I come across have changed since I began using it for this purpose. Overall I like twitter best when used causally, however I do see the useful application of twitter to an educational format. http://peaksmiddleprep.weebly.com In my experience using weekly.com to make my class webpage I feel I have gained a lot. Although at first I was considerably frustrated, working through the frustration to finally understand the website made it become fun quickly. I had a lot of trouble adding links to the site, and was confused as to how I could change the tabs in the top right-hand corner of the website from the default "ho...
